I just can't get over how much I love Charlotte Olympia's new collection.

It is the perfect collision of the child and the woman in me, (although neither of them can afford it...)

Ik vind de nieuwe collectie van Charlotte Olympia zo ontzettend mooi! Ik kan er maar niet over uit.
Het is de perfecte combinatie van het kind en de vrouw in mij, al kan geen van beide het zich veroorloven...

We all know Chalotte's book clutches, we all tried to do a DIY of them, we all cried our self to sleep knowing we could never get them. But she developed further down a path that not many designers take: she doesn't take her self too serious. What she does take serious tough are her shoes, her attention to detail is unknown, it's shoe couture, but without getting cocky.

We kennen allemaal de boek-clutches van Charlotte Olympia, en we hebben ze allemaal geprobeerd na te maken, en we zijn allemaal ontroostbaar geweest dat we nooit een echt boek-clutchje kunnen kopen. Maar Charlotte heeft zich verder ontwikkelt in een richting die niet veel ontwerpers durven te maken: ze neemt zichzelf niet te serieus. Wat ze wel serieus neemt zijn haar schoenen, haar aandacht voor detail is ongekend, het is couture, maar zonder arrogant te worden.

She brings back all our nostalgia; her shoes look like they could have been worn by the stars of the silver screen, as well as by our young selves during dress up parties.

Ze roept heimwee bij ons op; haar schoenen zien er uit alsof ze door de oude hollywood sterren konden zijn gedragen, maar ook door ons zelf toen we jong waren en verkleed partijtjes hielden.

This is something I really miss in today's fashion world. It's all so serious, so dark. The oversized coats this winter were so depressing. Big, shapeless, like they screamed to us, don't you dare to have any shapes or let alone any fantasy!

Dit is iets wat ik echt mis in de hedendaagse mode wereld. Het is allemaal zo somber, zo serieus. De oversized winter jassen van afgelopen seizoen bijvoorbeeld, zo deprimeren. Groot, vormloos, alsof ze tegen ons zeiden, waag het niet om een beetje vorm te hebben en al helemaal geen fantasie!

The spring 2014 collection is called 'overboard!' and contains everything that has to do with the sea; ankers, fish, coral, lobsters, travel bags, boats, mermaids, shells, even cats!?

Thank you Charlotte to let me believe that fashion can be fun again. That fashion is about having a little dress up party every day, so that we can escape from the hard world around us and that we can wrap ourselves in our dreams.

Dankjewel Charlotte, dat je me hebt laten geloven dat mode toch ook leuk kan zijn. Dat mode er om gaat om elke dag een verkeeld partijtje te hebben, zodat we even kunnen ontsnappen aan de harde donkere wereld om ons heen, dat we ons kunnen omhullen met onze fantasie en dromen.
